In the spring of 2026, Boys & Girls Club of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe opened its second Teen Center at the Marimn Health Wellness Center, expanding its ability to serve youth ages 12 and up with a safe, supportive space designed specifically for their growth. The new site reflects their commitment to teens and the possibility of bringing to life the skills and experiences that lead to positive outcomes.
From the moment teens walk through the doors, they have access to resources that encourage both physical and social well-being. The full-length fitness floor, complete with weights and workout machines, invites them to build strength and confidence, while the basketball court and swimming pool foster teamwork and positive peer engagement. These amenities are about recreation and are part of a larger effort to promote healthy lifestyles and meaningful connection.
At the heart of the Teen Center is leadership development. Through Youth Council, teens elect their peers to serve as leaders, spending the year building entrepreneurship and leadership skills while organizing fundraisers for Native conferences, trainings and field trips. Younger teens, ages 12–14, begin that journey early in Junior Youth Council, gaining foundational leadership experience and learning the value of their voice. Career readiness is also a key focus. The Workforce Trainee summer program provides teens with real-life professional skills and basic job etiquette, helping them prepare for future opportunities with confidence.
Cultural programming grounds everything in identity and heritage. Through traditional beading projects and Coeur d’Alene language immersion, teens strengthen their connection to culture while building pride in who they are. This connection fosters resilience and reinforces a sense of belonging.
With enrollment exceeding 100 teens during the school year, the Club ensures that each participant is supported with daily after-school snacks and dinner, meeting essential needs so they can fully engage and thrive. This expansion reflects strong organizational strength in meeting growing demand, while dedicated staff nurture talent and expand staff. These efforts contribute to providing teens a space to navigate and shape their futures. Boys & Girls Club of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe continues to demonstrate how culturally grounded programming can build leadership, confidence, and community, ensuring every teen has the opportunity to succeed.
