PAUL BERNAL
Commercial Aviation Licensing & Strategy, Boeing Intellectual Property
Paul Bernal is a champion for Native youth and a Boys & Girls Club Alumni. Before his days at Boeing, he grew up attending a local Boys & Girls Club that shaped his life. He believes in giving back to his local community by ensuring Native youth have access to the same life changing programming he experienced at the Club.
Bernal has been a Business Resource Group Executive Sponsor for the Boeing Native American Network, Advisor to Boeing Women Inspiring Leadership, and previous mentor of Boeing Asian-American Professional Association Board Members.
Mr. Bernal recently led Global Patent & Technology Licensing & Business Development as the Sr. Manager for The Boeing Company responsible for licensing technologies for application in non-aviation related markets. Previous Sr. Management position in licensing was focused on licensing of trademark & copyrights, patents, consumer products, and aerospace in support commercial aircraft, government, defense & space products.
Mr. Bernal has been an associated with innovation, business development, strategy, and IP licensing for The Boeing Company since 2004. He brings a wide-ranging background to his roles, with expertise in business development, licensing, financial analysis, operations, sales, and marketing. Mr. Bernal assesses Boeing’s developmental projects and products for market viability outside of its core areas of business. He coaches and mentors project leaders, guiding them through the business development lifecycle, helping to transform ideas into sound business proposals. He has prepared market analysis, opportunity assessments, business plans, IP strategies, technology collaboration, and innovative business models.
Prior to Mr. Bernal’s return to The Boeing Company, he served as a Global Account Manager for Microsoft’s World Wide Operations Division. While at Microsoft he managed both domestic and international client relationships with marketing, licensed product groups, manufacturing, planning and operations for targeted lines of business. He also developed initiatives through business case analysis, supply chain audits, lean principle assessments, and licensing. Paul also coordinated sales, marketing, operations, and supplier campaigns.
Mr. Bernal has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Central Washington University, Masters in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Management from Seattle University, Executive Leadership Certification from the Sloan School of Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), graduate from the Center for Creative Leadership, and guest Lecturer/Professor at the University of Washington’s Business School focused on Leadership from a cultural viewpoint.
Paul is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-Do, enjoys yoga, leadership development, and spending time with his family on the Columbia River.
