The Indigenous Advisory Circle provides culturally grounded leadership, strategic insight, and collaborative guidance on the state of Native youth and the evolving needs of Native organizations. Their aim is to ensure that all support for Native communities and youth is impactful, respectful, and sustainable—driving meaningful outcomes and honoring Indigenous values.

The goal of the Indigenous Advisory Circle is to achieve collective impact by aligning efforts, resources, and priorities across organizations and communities. The committee amplifies our strength and effectiveness in supporting local organizations and their youth to become Life Ready – grounded in culture, prepared for the future and equipped to lead.

Role of the Committee

The role of the Indigenous Advisory Circle is to:

  • Advise on culturally grounded, youth-centered programming that reflects Native values, interests and current needs.
  • Identify areas where Clubs can expand or adapt services through innovation that helps Clubs grow their reach and effectiveness while aligning with the overarching mission of serving all young people.
  • Advocate for policy change and funding that influences public opinion and action to elevate the youth development sector and issues that affect Indigenous youth while positioning Boys & Girls Clubs on Native Lands to be seen as the nation’s premiere organization dedicated to Native youth development.

Commitment & Expectations

Representatives of the Indigenous Advisory Circle:

  • Serve a two-year term with the opportunity for renewal.
  • Attend one in-person meeting at the BGCA National Conference.
  • Attend one virtual meeting.
  • Attend BGCA’s National Days of Advocacy.
  • Be mindful that you are not only representing yourself and your community, but you are a voice for all Clubs on Native Lands and the entire Boys & Girls Club Movement.
  • Carry and uphold the values of consideration, respect and professionalism throughout your commitment.

Committee Structure

  • Consists of 10 members representing a wide range of Tribal Nations, Indigenous Communities, geographic areas and areas of expertise.

Criteria for this Role

  • One year in the Boys & Girls Club Movement.
  • Executive Leader of a Native Boys & Girls Club.
  • Must attend the in-person Indigenous Advisory Circle meeting at BGCA National Conference every year.
  • Must attend BGCA’s National Days of Advocacy in Washington, D.C.
  • Must attend one virtual meeting as needed.
